The “Grigore Gafencu” Junior Award

It was established in November 2009 to increase scientific emulation and to honor the most outstanding results obtained in a calendar year as a result of research in one of these areas of research:

  • Modern History;
  • Contemporary History;
  • History of international relations;
  • Diplomatic history;
  • Gafencu Gregory's life and personality;

The prize is open to young researchers (aged up to 35 years when submitting application), members or associates of the "Grigore Gafencu" Research Center for the the History of International Relations and consists of providing a fixed amount of minimum 500 lei coming from donations or sponsorships.

The application file will consist of:

  • application form
  • submission of a representative work published or defended in that year (scientific article, chapter from a book chapter, from a Ph.D. thesis or MA dissertation) sent both electronically and on paper (these will be returned later to applicants);
  • whenever works are published in Romanian, the article / chapter must necessarily be accompanied by a comprehensive summary in a foreign language of international circulation of at least 1,500 words;

The awards regard only the quality of the works submitted, but it would be an advantage if they were presented at international or national prestige conferences or are the results of international and national grants, for which evidence demonstrating this will be filed;

Applications will be submitted electronically to the e-mail postmaster@centrulgafencu.ro. The work on paper will be sent either by mail to the Gafencu Center (postal date will be the latest deadline for closing the application) or be filed with the Gafencu Center by the deadline for closing the application.

The jury for the award of this prize will be appointed by the director of the research center and its scientific board and will include at least one outstanding foreign and one Romanian researcher coming from other research institutions.

If none of the candidates does meet quality criteria, the prize is carried over to next year.
